Isabella Rauti is 49 years old, is married and has a 16-year-old son. After completing a secondary school specializing in classical studies, she took a degree first in Literature and then in Education, and taught literary subjects at secondary schools for seven years. A devotee of the subject matter and technical degree holder, she obtained her PhD in Education and undertook university teaching activity on a contract basis. A professional journalist and writer, she is the author of five monographs and co-author of numerous publications.

She began engaging in political activity at a tender age. When she was 14 years old she joined the “Movimento Sociale Italiano” (MSI); she collaborated on the periodical Eowyn. Alternative femminili, taking part in the radio broadcasts of “Radio Alternativa” and in the “Hobbit Camps” experience. A “Fronte della Gioventù” (FdG), at age 19 she was put in charge of the cultural formation of the youth cadres of the FdG Provincial Council. She collaborated with the Women’s Sector of the MSI and at age 28 was elected to the Central Committee of the party.

A leader of social and female associationism, she became President of the cultural association “Centro Studi Futura,” for years a laboratory of women’s politics of the right. A member of the NGO “Movimento Comunità” voluntary service movement, as well as of the international cultural association “Identità Europea,” she devotes herself to international co-operation activity.

In 1995, she entered the “Movimento Sociale – Fiamma Tricolore”, of which she became the Women’s National Co-ordinator, as well as a member of the party’s executive organs.

In 2004, she joined “Alleanza Nazionale” and founded the environmental club “Area Sociale Europea,” of which she was President until the birth of the political party “Popolo della Libertà,” which she joined.

In 2010, she was elected Lazio Regional Councillor and, in the first session of the Council, was elected Councillor Secretary of the Office of the Presidency. She is a member of the Elections Committee, of the Committee for the Governance of the Regional Council and of the committees Labour and Equal Opportunities; School, Right to Study and Universities and Safety and Fight against Crime. She is Chairwoman of the intergroup “Friends of Human Rights in Iran” of the Lazio Regional Council and Vice-Chairwoman of the “Intergroup on Tibet.”

Engaged in social policies and committed to equal opportunity, over the years she has held numerous institutional offices: member of the National Commission for Parity and Equal Opportunities for Men and Women of the Presidency of the Council; Vice-President of the Women’s Council of the Region of Lazio, of which she has been a member since 1995; National Parity Councillor at the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies; Department Head of the Ministry for Equal Opportunities; and Advisor to the Ministry for Equal Opportunities.

A supporter of the association “Circoli Nuova Italia,” today she chairs the cultural association “Nuova Europa.” She has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the foundation “Fondazione Nuova Italia,” of which she directed the “Social Interventions” sector. She is President of the association Noi X Roma.

She is a member of the Bellisario Foundation, Vice-President of the Women’s National Council of the Italian League for the Fight against Tumours (LILT), a member of the Scientific Committee of the “Nilde Iotti Foundation” and of the Joint Committee of the Ministry for Equal Opportunities for the respect of the female figure in advertising messages.
